Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

In craniosacral therapy, the therapist feels the bones moving "in the skull" as well as the outer skull bone itself. He works with the cerebral fluid, assesses the condition of the cerebral skin and the skin of the spinal cord and makes contact with the nervous system, and thus with the remaining bones, muscles and connective tissue of the body. Each clinical symtom and each blockage creates a deviation from the basic rhythmic movement of the cerebral fluid. My job is to correct this. The range of treatments extends from a vitalising basic treatment to the treatment of physical complaints and symptoms (such as back pain or migraines) to dealing with emotional trauma.

The craniosacral rhythm of a person is the energetic keynote of their expressions of life. The way in which this rhythm is expressed is strongly influenced by the positive and negative experiences, i.e. by the life story. With this method, the human being is viewed as a holistic and complex energy system, which naturally strives to bring itself into balance. The release of craniosacral blockages therefore sets self-healing into effect: This therapy gives the body the chance to take on a more vital energy balance - the result is healing of specific symptoms and their causes.

Impulses for self-healing arise from moments of silence. If the client, as part of the craniosacral therapy, manages during treatment to escape the hectic daylife for a moment, the bones in the skull move into their place and emotional blockages are released.

This work is generally good for every body and helpful with cardiovascular and digestive problems, chronic diseases, TMJ / jaw problems, anxiety and depression and trauma.

    FAQs

What is Craniosacral Therapy used for?

Craniosacral therapy is a form of bodywork or alternative therapy that uses gentle touch to palpate the synarthrodial joints of the cranium. This therapy can help with a variety of issues, such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, migraine, headache, complex regional pain syndrome, fascial adhesions, neuralgia, neurodegenerative diseases.

What are the benefits of Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is thought to relieve compression in the head, neck, and back. This can soothe pain and release both emotional and physical stress and tension. It's also thought to help restore cranial mobility and ease or release restrictions of the head, neck, and nerves.

    How does it feel?

For many clients, a craniosacral session feels very good and relaxing. A client of mine even said: "A cranio session is like two weeks of vacation".

Is it okay to talk during the treatment?

Should you have a question or would like to tell me something during the treatment, feel free to do so. But you will benefit more from the treatment if you do not speak a lot. Focus on yourself and on the treatment.

What happens after a Craniosacral therapy session?

You may leave in such a relaxed state that you feel like sleeping for hours. Or you may leave full of boundless energy. You may feel a decrease in pain or an increase in function immediately after the session, or the effects may develop gradually over the next few days.

    The Founder of the Craniosacral-Therapy

The founder of craniosacral therapy The craniosacral therapy (from the Latin cranium "skull" and sacral "sacrum") is an alternative medicine form of treatment that emerged from osteopathy by the founder, Dr. Andrew Still (see photos).

It is a manual procedure in which hand movements are mainly performed in the area of the skull, neck, hyoid bone, thorax, spine, sacrum, diaphragm, pelvis and feet.

The craniosacral therapy arose from the craniosacral osteopathy, which was established as "Osteopathy in the Cranial Field" by the US osteopathic doctor William Garner Sutherland and which became an integral part of osteopathy as craniosacral osteopathy.

The craniosacral therapy is based on the rhythmic pulsations of the cerebral spinal cord fluid, the so-called "primary respiratory mechanism - PRM", which is transferred to the outer tissue and bones and can, thus, be felt by palpation.
